Our Head Coaches
|
Ed Ernst
Head Track and Field Coach Coach Ernst joined the Marist coaching community as the boys’ track and field head coach in 2024. Previously, Ernst coached cross country and track and field at Saint Ignatius for 20 years. In his first season, the Marist boys took second place at the East Suburban Catholic Conference championships and third at the Lyons Township 3A sectional, with three individual state qualifiers along with a relay. Taking the Marist coaching position was special to Coach Ernst on a personal level as he was long-time coaching friends with the late Marist coaches Jon Gordon and Wayne Holloway. Coach Gordon was the boys head cross country and track and field coach at Marist for 6 years, winning ESCC and IHSA sectional titles. Coach Holloway was an assistant coach for sprints with Gordon. Ernst knew the two men as coaching colleagues for more than 25 years. [email protected] |
Zack Maslanka
Head Distance and Cross Country Coach Coach Maslanka took over the Marist Boys Track team in 2023 as interim coach, and he earned ESCC Track Coach of the Year honors when Marist won the conference championship. He became Head Cross Country Coach in 2023. Coach Maslanka teaches in the Marist Social Studies department. [email protected] |
